Did not have a great reading week. I just couldn't get into sitting down and reading...
I read 2 books this week. Had a slow week, the best had to be Williams book.
BEHOLDEN (Rated B-)
Bronwyn Williams
9/1998
Rom/H-Victorian
In the 1890s, a young Irish woman flees her poverty-stricken homeland for North Carolina in a last desperate chance at happiness, to find the man for whom her father sacrificed his life. But once found, the devastatingly handsome man is not the fatherly figure she imagined.
Now she must find the strength to survive on her own in a new land without succumbing to her irresistible desire for a man who has sworn never to love again.
**** Thoughts
The book drags a bit and Katie tends to be a bit too headstrong.....she does a few TSTL things to show her independent. Galen thinks he is too old for her, 11 years! That is about right in a romance book. Tara gets bratty when she doesn't get her own way.....hummm, may have to rethink that B-!!
MIDWIFE IN NEED (Rated C)
Fiona McArthur
9/2003
Rom/C
A VERY SPECIAL WOMAN
Midwife Abbey Wilson lives for her job and her family. After a scarring break-up with her fiancé she has stayed well clear of men. But when Dr. Rohan Roberts arrives at the maternity clinic in Gladstone, New South Wales, Abbey becomes aware of a man for the first time in years.
Abbey arouses Rohan's desires and all his protective instincts though her strong family ties, and collection of waifs and strays, hold too many painful memories for him. Despite himself, Rohan discovers his feelings for Abbey are far deeper than he's bargained for. He has two choices -- he can run, or he can stay and find the courage to admit his love for this very special woman.
***Thoughts
Rohan's mother was killed by being a good Samaritan, it tries to stop Abbey from being the same. Rohan gets a bitirritatingg trying to protect her or angry when she protects herself from hurm when he thinks he should have been there. The romance takes a back seat to the secondary characters.
I am going to be cleaning off the sun porch and rearranging my TBB pile so something should jump out at me.
