Week in Review

I started reading Carolyn Davidson's COLORADO COURTSHIP but it wasn't working for me so I put in down to start LORD OF FIRE, the best book of the week.

A FAMILY FOR GILLIAN (Rated B-)
Catherine Blair (2)
10/2001
Rom/H-Regency
Carlton was still grieving to much to even feel comfortable looking at Gillian after they married. The children hated her, mostly the oldest daughter. She easily won of the baby, Katie that never knew her mother but when Gillian tried to do anything for her, Carlton reminded her she wasn't Katie's mother.

LORD OF FIRE (Rated B+)
Gaelen Foley
1/2002
Rom/H-Regency

Beautiful, innocent, Alice Montague finds herself at the mercy of scandalous Lord Lucien. But as he begins his slow seduction to corrupt her virtue, Alice glimpses a man tormented by his own choices, a man who promises her nothing except his undeniable passion....

THE PROPER WIFE (Rated C-)
Julia Justiss

I just never felt anything for either Sinjin or Clarissa. Sinjin spent his time in the book grieving the loss of Sarah (THE WEDDING GAMBLE heroine). She had married another in a MOC while Sinjin was away at war and he couldn't get back into time to stop the wedding. Sarah is happily married with children and this all took place over 4 years ago.

Clarissa is beautiful and the star of the ton, she is a bit spoiled but she when she flirts she doesn't hurt. Sinjin sees her as an arrogant, spoiled society lady. He is determined to marry a rich middle class woman who will know her place. He starts picking out women. The author just never gives Clarissa and Sinjin many scenes together to let the sparks fly so Sinjin can only see Clarissa and want her.

The seem to fall in love with each from afar....he was with a rich middle class woman when Clarissa realized she had lost him because he was about to ask the other women to marry him in a MOC.

I loved THE WEDDING GAMBLE so I will be trying another of her books.

This weekend is LORD OF ICE by Gaelen Foley, I've ordered LADY OF DESIRE (their sister's book) waiting for THE DEVIL TAKES A BRIDE coming out in May.
